The Register of Deeds office serves as the custodian for real estate related documents (as far back as1776) as well as vital records for the county. We record deeds, deeds of trust, powers of attorney, assumed names, military records, plats and maps, etc.; we maintain notary public records; we issue marriage licenses (as far back as 1869) and certified copies of birth and death certificates (for people born or who have died in Franklin County as far back as 1913).
