Marriage Licenses

The premarital physical is no longer required.

Both bride and groom must come to office to obtain license.

Applicants age 21 and over must present current ID, Drivers License, Passport or certified Birth Certificate.

Applicants under age 21 must present current ID, Drivers License, Passport, AND Certified copy of Birth Certificate.

Applicants 16 to 17 years of age must have written parental consent and certified copy of birth certificate.

Bride and groom both must provide their Social Security numbers and verification of number. Present Social Security card, W-2 form, or pay stub showing Social Security number can do this.

Applicants who are not eligible for a Social Security number may obtain a marriage license by signing an affidavit attesting to this fact. The affidavit form is available in the Register of Deeds office.

Date of divorce or date of death of previous spouse is required when applicable. Must furnish written proof of divorce or death.

The Marriage license is good immediately upon issuance and is valid for 60 days.

The fee for the license is $60.00, CASH ONLY

Marriage licenses are issued between the hours of 8:00 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday, excluding holidays. Applicants should try to be in our office by 4:00 P.M.

The Register of Deeds office is located at 113 S. Main St., Louisburg, NC, in the Hamilton Hobgood Courthouse Annex.

If you need copy of your Marriage License, once married you may acquire at our office in person, or request thru mail. Fee is $10.00, address P.O.Box 545, 113 S. Main Street, Louisburg, N.C. 27549. Please be sure to sign your request.
